‘71
A young British soldier is accidentally abandoned by his unit following a riot on the streets of Belfast in 1971. Unable to tell friend from foe, and increasingly wary of his own comrades, the raw recruit must survive the night alone and find his way to safety through a disorientating, alien and deadly landscape.
YANN DEMANGE
Born in Paris (France) in 1977, he grew up in London and began his career filming live concerts and working on promos for international musicians. His first film, Joe, screened at the British Council Festival. He then directed the short films Incomplete, Alan and Samir and Headspace. After studying at the National Film and Television School, he directed Man in a Box in 2006 for Channel 4.His five-part series Dead Set was nominated for the Best Series BAFTA in 2010 and Top Boy for Best Director in 2013. ’71 is his debut feature film.
