MARSHLAND (La Isla mínima)
The Spanish deep South, in 1980. A series of brutal murders of adolescent girls in a remote and forgotten town bring together two disparate characters – both detectives in the Homicide Department – to investigate the cases. With deep divisions in their ideology, detectives Juan and Pedro must put aside their differences if they are to successfully hunt down a killer who has been terrorizing a community for years in the shadow of a general disregard for women rooted in a misogynistic past.
ALBERTO RODRÍGUEZ
Born in 1971 in Seville (Spain), he is a director and screenwriter mostly known for his films 7 Virgins and Unit 7. Since 2005, he is considered as one of the most promising Spanish directors. 7 Virgins was nominated for the Spanish Goyas as Best Picture, Best Director and Original Screenplay and rewarded for Best Performance by an Actor at San Sebastian.
