SON OF A GUN
Locked up at 19 years old JR quickly learns the harsh realities of prison life where Protection is vital. JR soon finds himself under the watchful eye of Australia’s most notorious criminal, Brendan Lynch. But protection comes at a price. Lynch and his crew have plans for their young protegee. Upon release, JR must help Lynch’s prison break. As a reward, he’s invited to join the crew as they plan a gold heist. However, as things start to go wrong, JR finds himself unsure of whom he can trust and on a collision course with his former mentor.
JULIUS AVERY
Born in Pemberton (Australia), he is a Masters graduate of VCA Film School. His short Jerrycan won the Jury Prize at Cannes in 2008 and the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Short Film and Best Director. In 2012, he wrote and produced the short Yardbird, which played In Competition at Cannes and won several awards, notably the Best Australian Short Film at Flickerfest. This marked the first collaborative project under the new Bridle Path Films banner, a directors’ collective he founded with Michael Spiccia in 2011.
