Born in 1946 in Scotland, Brian Cox started out as a stage actor and was acknowledged as an accomplished Shakespearean actor within the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company. In addition to this, he played countless television and film roles and stood out portraying emblematic characters : Argyle Wallace in Braveheart (1995), William Stryker in X 2 (2003), Agamemnon in Troy (2004), Ward Abbott in The Bourne Identity (2002) and The Bourne Supremacy (2004), John Landon in Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011).

His talent did not go unnoticed, was awarded several times (Emmy Awards, Independent Spirit Awards, Olivier Awards) and gave
him the opportunity to work with today’s greatest directors : Michael Mann, Ken Loach, Woody Allen, David Fincher, Paul Greengrass… Brian Cox has authored two non-fiction books : The Lear Diaries and Salem to Moscow : An Actor’s Odyssey.

He was honored by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002, who named him a Commander of the British Empire.

He stars in the upcoming Edwin Boyd, shown this year in Competition at the Beaune International Thriller Film Festival.
